Sorry, only Debian derivatives this time but possible on most Linux distributions.
You need to open your terminal and copy and paste these two commands to install the necessary software. Nautilus or Nemo should then be able to preview the files for you.
sudo apt install heif-gdk-pixbuf

sudo apt install heif-thumbnailer
