These are the best practices for uploading your gravatar:

Before uploading it and make sure it’s no larger than 128 pixels X 128 pixels and square.

The filetype has to be one of a PNG, GIF or JPG. The image file name must have an extension.Make sure your file name contains only letters and numbers in lowercase and doesnt have any special characters.
